Fritz Laske (born March 25, 1854 in Königsberg , East Prussia, † February 19, 1918 in Berlin ; full name: Johann August Friedrich Laske ) was a German architect , Prussian construction clerk and university professor in Berlin.

Life

Laske was the son of a Königsberg car manufacturer. From 1875 he studied at the Berlin Building Academy , among others with Eduard Jacobsthal . In 1876/1877 he was able to take up Schloss Wilhelmsburg in Schmalkalden as part of the Friedrich Eggers scholarship . In 1879 he passed the "construction manager examination" (1st state examination ) and, after the subsequent legal clerkship, in 1885 the "builder examination" (2nd state examination). While still a student, he was involved in the planning of the Strasbourg main train station as an employee of Jacobsthal . Study trips took him to Italy, France, Great Britain and Belgium.

Laske then worked as an assistant teacher at the Royal Art School in Berlin and at the Technical University of Charlottenburg , he was also involved in the planning of various Berlin city train stations and for the extension of the Bergakademie Berlin . From 1893 to 1897, Laske worked as an " unskilled worker" in the technical office of the Prussian Ministry of Public Works in Berlin before he took up the local construction officer in Potsdam , where he rebuilt the garrison church . Laske succeeded his teacher Eduard Jacobsthal as a professor at the Technical University of Charlottenburg , from whom he took over the teaching of ornamentation . He was awarded the honorary title of Secret Building Councilor .

During his lifetime, Laske set up the Fritz Laske Foundation to promote high architecture in 1916 and provided it with 30,000 marks .

The Association for Henneberg History and Regional Studies set up a "Fritz-Laske Room" in Wilhelmsburg Castle in Schmalkalden, in which parts of his home furnishings and his architectural and literary estate were kept.
