Fritz Lemmermayer
Fritz Lemmermayer (born March 26, 1857 in Vienna ; † September 11, 1932 there ) was an Austrian writer and journalist .
Life
The father Carl Lemmermayer, a portrait painter, died early, so that the mother Anna († 1886), a pianist, had to raise four underage children alone. From 1876 Fritz Lemmermayer studied philosophy, history and literature in Vienna . Soon he was already writing articles for journals. His circle of friends included Robert Hamerling and Johann Fercher von Steinwand , but above all Friedrich Hebbel and Richard Wagner . In 1887 Lemmermayer worked in Genoa on the collection and publication of Friedrich Hebbel's letters.
On March 31, 1900 Lemmermayer wanted to commit double suicide with his friend Hugo Astl-Leonhard (* 1870), editor-in-chief of the magazine Trautes Heim . While the friend died, Lemmermayer survived. He then retired to the castle of Prince Elimar von Oldenburg in Brogyán for 25 years . After returning to Vienna, Lemmermayer came into the circle of Richard Kralik and became friends with Rudolf Steiner , whose Anthroposophical Society he joined in 1926.
