Brodzany (until 1948 Broďany in Slovak , Brogyán in Hungarian ) is a municipality in the west-center of Slovakia with 869 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Partizánske , part of Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern Danube hill country below the Tribeč Mountains , on the left bank of the Nitra . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 192 m nm and is three kilometers from Partizánske and 17 kilometers from Topoľčany .
history
There has been a settlement in today's municipality since the Neolithic, and a primeval culture studied there was named Brodzany-Nitra .
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1293 as Brogen and derives its name from the Slavic word brod (= ford).
From 1976 to 1992 Brodzany was a part of Partizánske.
