Fritz Schaper (politician)

Fritz Schaper (born October 14, 1890 in Holzminden ; † May 27, 1966 in Coburg ) was a Bavarian politician of the KPD and an anti-fascist resistance fighter .

Life

Schaper initially worked in various professions until he found a job as a glass worker in Tettau for a long time. After the First World War he became a member of the USPD , which merged with the KPD to form the VKPD in 1920.

From 1928 Schaper was KPD party secretary in Hof and a member of the northern Bavarian district leadership of the KPD. From 1928 to 1933 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . In 1931 he took part in a course at the KPD Reichsparteischule in Fichtenau .

After the seizure of power by the Nazis , he continued his work for the Communist Party and offered resistance to National Socialism . In 1934 he was arrested by the Gestapo and taken into protective custody until 1939 . He was badly mistreated in the Dachau concentration camp .

After the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp in 1945, he became politically active again in Bavaria. From 1947 to 1949 he worked full-time for the Bavarian Trade Union Federation in Kronach and in 1950 as an employee of the German Trade Union Federation in Bayreuth .

From 1950 to 1954, like before 1933, he was a full-time functionary of the KPD state leadership in Bavaria and from August 1, 1954, he was with the KPD state leadership in Rhineland-Palatinate .

From 1955 he lived as a pensioner in Tettau.
