Nick Kuiper (born February 12, 1982 in Beaconsfield , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player with Dutch roots.

Career

Nick Kuiper began his career as a hockey player in the team of the University of Massachusetts Amherst , for which he was active from 2000 to 2004 in Hockey East . He then received his first professional contract with the Norfolk Admirals , for which he played in the American Hockey League in the following two seasons . The 2006/07 season spent the defender with the Manitoba Moose , Portland Pirates and Springfield Falcons in the AHL and the Augusta Lynx and Johnstown Chiefs in the ECHL . Since he could not prevail permanently in any of the AHL teams, he moved to Ässät Pori in the Finnish SM-liiga in the following season , but ended the 2007/08 season at Luleå HF in the Swedish Elitserien .

In the summer of 2008, Kuiper was signed by EC Graz 99ers from the Austrian Ice Hockey League , for which he played until 2011. He spent the 2011/12 season with the Belfast Giants before moving to the Italian Serie A1 for HC Alleghe in the summer of 2012 . In 2013 he moved to Heerenveen Flyers and ended his career there after a season.
