Fritz Strobentz
Fritz Strobentz , in Hungarian Frigyes Strobentz , (* July 25, 1856 in Budapest , † June 5, 1929 in Munich ) was a painter from Hungary who worked in Munich.
Life
Strobentz attended secondary school in Pest . From 1877 to 1880 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There were Hugo Crola , Heinrich Lauenstein , Johann Peter Theodor Janssen , Eduard Gebhardt and Julius Roeting his teachers. From October 20, 1880 until 1882 he was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Ludwig von Löfftz . He then settled in Munich, then in Dachau ( Dachau artists' colony ) and Hungary. In Munich he was a member of the "Luitpold Group". At first he was a fan of traditional Munich genre and landscape painting. Starting from naturalism, he developed an independent impressionistic conception of nature. Since the 1880s he has been painting in the open air and studying nature thoroughly. He went on study trips to Holland, Paris and Italy. In 1910 the Kingdom of Bavaria awarded him the title of professor.
Strobenz was one of the founding members of the Munich Secession and part of the circle around Leo Putz . As an early member of the German Association of Artists , Frigyes Strobentz exhibited in 1904 at the first joint exhibition between the DKB and the Munich Secessionists in the State Collection of Antiquities on Königsplatz. In 1907 he was one of the founding members of the Hungarian Society of Impressionists and Naturalists ( MIÉNK ).
Strobentz was friends with Fritz von Uhde and Franz von Stuck .
