The Frobenius-Gymnasium is a high school in the small town of Hammelburg in Lower Franconia . It is named after the publisher and printer Johann Froben , who was born in Hammelburg around 1460.
history
The history of the school goes back to 1669. This year, a contract for the construction of a school was signed between the city council of Hammelburg and the Franciscans of the local old town monastery . The school was first referred to as a grammar school in an examination directory in 1774. In 1817 the Franziskaner-Gymnasium was closed and a two-class Latin school was established. After this had been gradually expanded to five classes, the school was converted into a six-level Progymnasium in 1905 . On February 22nd, 1960, the school was named "Frobenius-Gymnasium mit Oberrealschule " and the Abitur examination was taken there for the first time in the following year .
