The Football District League Berlin 1989/90 was the 38th and last season under the name Football District League Berlin , which was carried out by the District Technical Committee (BFA) Football Berlin (East). The season was shaped by the political changes in the GDR . With the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989, many teams lost parts of their squad, as the players moved from the GDR to the Federal Republic or, especially in the case of Berlin, now in the western part of the city , often supported by D-Marks , a new sporting one Found field of activity. The first company sports associations renamed themselves during the current season in the course of social changes.
The BSG EAB 47 Berlin secured its seventh district championship title after 1983 and took part in the promotion round to the GDR league , which was renamed the NOFV league with the 1990/91 season. In this, the rise was missed by taking fourth place in season 2.
The Hohenschönhauser SC , Außenhandel Berlin and Motor Wildau descended into the renamed subordinate state class Berlin (East) . In return, BSG Wartenberg and Motor Köpenick rose to the Landesliga Berlin (East) for the first time in the following season . With the withdrawal of TSG Oberschöneweide, a third promotion spot became available. Motor Lichtenberg took this after winning promotion games against Konsum Berlin .
The amateurs from 1. FC Union Berlin took over the playing rights for the dissolved GDR league relegated KWO Berlin for the new season .
