The district league Gera 1976/77 was the 25th season of the district league Gera of the German Football Association .

The BSG Wismut Gera II became district champion for the third time in a row. Since second teams were no longer allowed to play in the GDR league , the team was again unable to use the title for promotion despite the promotion of the first team to the GDR Oberliga . Second placed SG Dynamo Gera qualified for promotion to the GDR league .

BSG Motor Saalfeld , last year's climber SG Franken Wurzbach and BSG Stahl Maxhütte were relegated to the subordinate district classes .

In the following season, BSG Motor Zeulenroda , BSG Chemie Jena (with a record result of 63: 1 points) and last year's relegated BSG Progress Pößneck rose. In a promotion round, the BSG Wismut Berga was able to secure an additional place.
