Fulton Oursler
Fulton Oursler , actually Charles Fulton Oursler , (born January 22, 1893 in Baltimore , Maryland , † May 24, 1952 in New York City , New York ) was an American journalist , writer , magician and ventriloquist .
Life
Oursler studied law, but switched to journalism after a short time. After successfully completing his studies, he worked for a long time as a freelance journalist for various newspapers and magazines. Between 1931 and 1942 he served as editor-in-chief of Liberty Magazine and in 1942 he was appointed editor of Reader's Digest .

Since his studies, Oursler has occasionally been able to publish small stories and essays, and over the years a remarkable literary oeuvre has emerged. In 1949, he made the breakthrough economically as well as literarily with the novel biography about Jesus of Nazareth .
He kept his pseudonyms strictly separate: for detective novels he used "Anthony Abbot", art reviews and / or subjects relating to art in general, he published under "Samri Frickell" (composed of the names Samri Baldwin and Wiljalba Frikell ) and everything related to magic, ventriloquism, etc. . concerned was found under "Sandalwood the Magician".
Fulton Oursler died of a heart attack at his desk on May 24, 1952, at the age of 59 . He found his final resting place in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne , New York.
Oursler was married to Grace Perkins; with her he had a son, the future writer Will Oursler .
