Fun & Serious Game Festival is a video game festival that has been held in the Spanish city of Bilbao every year between late November and early December since it was founded in 2011 . The aim is to recognize the cultural significance of video games. For this purpose, various leisure and educational activities are offered, such as the VIT Talks and the Fun & Serious prizes.
The Fun & Serious Game Festival is sponsored by the Basque Regional Government - SPRI, the City of Bilbao and the Provincial Council of Vizcaya. Another sponsor is the El Correo newspaper. The strategic pillars of the event also include the first brands in the sector such as Microsoft, PlayStation and Ubisoft. The Spanish Association for Video Games (AEVI) also participates in the festival.
The event concludes with the Titanium Awards Gala for the best games of the year. The Titanium Prize was awarded for the first time in 2015 on the occasion of the festival. The name and design of the award are based on the metal titanium, which represents the transformation of the city of Bilbao. In 2016, a total of 25,000 people took part.
For the eighth event in 2018, the festival was relocated to the Bilbao Exhibition Center in Baracaldo to accommodate a larger forum.
From 6th to 9th December 2019 the IX. Edition, where Yōko Shimomura will receive the Titanium Prize for her contribution to the world of video game music. The composer will also give a lecture as part of the VIT Talks.
