The Fuorcla Prüna is an alpine pass in the canton of Graubünden in the Swiss Alps . With a peak height of 2835 m above sea level. M. it connects the Val Prüna in the north with the plateau S-chüdella in the south. The pass is located between the Muot da la Pischa in the west and the Piz Pischa in the east. The top of the pass is very attractive with its little lakes, rubble and firn terraces.
Location and surroundings
The Fuorcla Prüna belongs to the Piz Languard group, a subgroup of the Livigno Alps . The municipal boundary between Pontresina and La Punt-Chamues-ch runs over the pass . The Fuorcla Prüna is crossed in the north by the Val Prüna, a side valley of the Val Chamuera that ends in La Punt-Chamues-ch, and in the south by the S-chüdella, a plateau above the Val Pischa, a side valley of the Val da Fain , edged. It connects the Muot da la Pischa ( 3024 m ) in the west (a peak south of Piz Languard ) with the Piz Pischa ( 3136 m ) in the east.
In the immediate vicinity is the Fuorcla Pischa ( 2847 m ), via which the Val Languard can be reached, as well as the Fuorcla Tschüffer ( 2832 m ), over which the Lej Tschüffer ( 2751 m ) and the Fuorcla Prünella ( 2825 m ) the Val Prünella can be reached.
North of Fuorcla da Prüna is the Lej da Prüna ( 2815 m ), to the south of the Lej da Pischa in the S-chüdella plateau.
Valley locations are Pontresina and La Punt-Chamues-ch, frequent starting point is Bernina Suot.
Origin of name
Prüna matches the Latin pruna 'plum' , but it is difficult to justify the matter. A reference to the Engadine brün , German 'brown', is loudly questionable.
