Furcht is a German horror film from 1917 by Robert Wiene .

Count Greven, who is returning from a grand tour from India, should actually be happy. However, it is not because he stole a Buddha statue there. Since then he has been persecuted by Indian priests who want their property back.
In a vision he is told that in seven years he will be killed at the hand of the person closest to him. The count then enjoys his life and wastes his fortune. Shortly before the deadline expires, he goes mad with fear and commits suicide.

The production company was Messter Film GmbH Berlin (No. 9446), the first distribution was handled by Hansa-Film-Verleih GmbH Berlin. The viraged film had an original length of four acts at 1,496 meters. Ludwig Kainer was responsible for the buildings, and the shooting took place in the Messter Studios in Berlin.
