Furcraea guerrerensis is a species of the genus Furcraea in the subfamily of the agave family (Agavoideae). The specific epithet guerrerensis refers to the occurrence of the species in the Mexican state of Guerrero .

description

Furcraea guerrerensis grows without a trunk. The 25 to 35 narrow, sword-shaped leaves are widened at their base and taper to a wide point. In the upper part they are concave, in the lower part almost flat. Their dark green leaf blades are 150 to 175 centimeters long and 12 to 15 centimeters wide. The inwardly curved, triangular marginal teeth are maroon and stand 1 to 2 centimeters apart. The chestnut end thorn is 1 to 1.5 millimeters long.

The upright, loose inflorescence reaches a height of 8 to 10 meters. The flowers are stalked. Their greenish yellow tepals are halbrhomboid shaped. The outer tepals are 30 to 35 millimeters long and 12 millimeters wide, the inner ones have a length of 35 millimeters and a width of 20 millimeters. The 15 millimeter long stamens are expanded at their base. The elongated anthers have a length of 7 millimeters. The stylus is columnar, the scar hardly head- shaped .

Fruits and seeds are not described.

Systematics and distribution

Furcraea guerrerensis is distributed in the Mexican state of Guerrero in oak forests at altitudes of 500 meters. The species is only known from the place where the type species was found .

The first description by Eizi Matuda was published in 966.

Furcraea foetida is classified in the genus in the section Furcraea . The species is closely related to Furcraea guatemalensis .
