Furio Scarpelli (born December 16, 1919 in Rome , † April 28, 2010 ibid) was an Italian screenwriter . He often worked with Agenore Incrocci (as Age & Scarpelli) . He has been nominated three times for an Oscar .

Life

Scarpelli began his professional career as a satirical illustrator until he met Agenore Incrocci after the war. From then on, Age & Scarpelli formed a busy team of authors in the Italian film industry. First they wrote comedies for Totò , after which they can be seen as the inventor of the Commedia all'italiana , for which they wrote classics by Mario Monicelli , Dino Risi and Pietro Germi . But serious films like Two Glorious Scoundrels (1966) were also made from her books.

Without his partner Incrocci, Scarpelli worked often with the film director Ettore Scola since the late 1960s . Active as a screenwriter until 2009, he was nominated for an Oscar in 1994 for his script for Der Postmann . He had previously received two further nominations in 1965 (for Die Peitsche im Neck ) and 1966 (for Casanova '70 ).
