The goose collar ( 2914 m above sea level ) is a rocky peak in the Stubai Alps in Tyrol . It lies west of the Winnebachseehütte and southeast of the Breiten Grießkogel ( 3287 m above sea level ) and forms the end point of the ridge that extends from this summit to the southwest. The secondary peak ( 2902 m ) to the west of the goose collar is called the Brunneck . The deepest notch in the ridge leading to the Breiten Grieskogel is the Wantlasscharte ( 2805 m ).
Climbs
A marked path leads from the Winnebachseehütte to the summit. At first, you cross the south-eastern flank of the mountain with a little incline. Later, the steeper path leads up in many bends from the south, and finally from the southwest to the summit. Almost two hours are planned for this ascent. Especially in the summit area is something surefootedness required.
The most popular climbing route on the goose collar leads over the east ridge ( UIAA III ) over solid rock. You can get to the entrance from the Winnebachseehütte via the path leading to the Zwieselbachjoch, from which you branch off after a few minutes and reach the foot of the east ridge without a path. The length of the climbing route is 650 meters. The head of the ridge before the last upswing can be climbed over or bypassed on both sides of the ridge.
