Göran Högosta (born April 15, 1954 in Äppelbo ) is a Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper whose greatest success was the silver medal at the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1977 with the Swedish national ice hockey team . Not least because of his performances in two victories of the Swedes against the selection of the Soviet Union in Vienna, he was also named the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Career

Högosta started his professional career in 1971 at the IF Tunabro club in Borlänge . From 1974 to 1976 he played at Leksands IF and was able to establish himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the league, which earned him the nomination for the national team. 1977 Göran Högosta moved to the Fort Worth Texans , a year later to the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League . Other stations were the New York Islanders , another year at the Fort Worth Texans club and finally the Québec Nordiques before returning to the Swedish league at the beginning of the 1980/1981 season. Here he played for four years for Västra Frölunda HC . After a season at Falu IF he ended his career at Leksands IF after the 1986/1987 season, with whom he was Swedish champion twelve years earlier.

Goran Högosta now works as a sales manager at the paint manufacturer Herdins in Falun .

International

In addition to the ice hockey world championship in 1977, Högosta took part in the world championships in 1975 (bronze), 1976 (bronze) and 1978 (4th place) as a goalkeeper.
