The Götzer Berg is 108.6  m above sea level. NHN high elevation formed during the Ice Age north of the district of Götz in the community of Groß Kreutz (Havel) ( district of Potsdam-Mittelmark ) in Brandenburg . It rises almost 80 m above its surroundings. There is an observation tower on it .

Morphogenesis

During the last, the Vistula glaciation, the ice retreated (thawing) from the maximum extent of the Brandenburg phase to renewed advances of the ice ( stadial ). During the formation of ice edge layer  2, a compression moraine , the Götzer Berg, was piled up particularly high between two glacier tongues advancing from the north . This ice edge location runs, although its course in the landscape is not recognizable in parts, from Werder (Havel) over the Götzer Berg to the northwest over the Havel to the Black Mountain near Radewege .

Observation tower

Observation tower

On June 14, 2012, a lookout tower was opened on the Götzer Berg. The foundation stone was laid on October 12, 2011. The galvanized steel tower has a height of 42.15 m and a viewing platform at a height of 27 m.

Its shape should be reminiscent of the signal and observation tower of the national survey that used to stand in its place . That is why the four pillars are clad with wood. Under the tower there is a first-order trigonometric point , for the observation of which a surveying tower is no longer required.

Protected areas

The Götzer Berg is located in the conservation area Brandenburg Osthavelniederung. In addition, its northern slope is designated as a protected landscape component under the name Bruchwald Götzer Berg . The SPA area Mittlere Havelniederung and the FFH area Mittlere Havel Supplement extend to the foot of the mountain.
