Günter Bayerl

Günter Bayerl (born July 25, 1946 in Augsburg ) is a German historian . Since 1994 he has taught history of technology at the BTU Cottbus and BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg .

Life

Bayerl studied sociology , political science and social, economic and technical history at the Universities of Erlangen and Hamburg . In 1983 he received his doctorate on the history of pre-industrial papermaking .

Scientific work

In 1989 Bayerl completed his habilitation at the University of Hamburg and then continued research at the Institute for Social and Economic History there. Among other things, Bayerl publishes the Cottbuser Studies series on the history of technology, work and the environment , which so far comprises 41 volumes.

Since 2007 he has been a member of the Brandenburg Historical Commission . Bayerl is the author and publisher of numerous books and other publications, including on the technical and economic history of Niederlausitz since 1850.

His research topics include the transformation of industry from the 18th to the 20th century as well as the economic , environmental and social history of Brandenburg.
