Günter H. Hertel (born February 1, 1948 in Plauen ) is a German transport scientist .

Life

Günter Hertel studied traffic engineering and mathematics at the "Friedrich List" (HfV) University of Transportation in Dresden. In 1974, he was there with the work "reliability analyzes technological and technical systems" PhD ; In 1986 he completed his habilitation with the thesis "Analytical modeling and formulaic treatment of standard operating systems with failure-prone channels", an integration of queue and reliability theory. From 1980 to 1991 he was a research assistant, later a senior assistant at the HfV at the Klaus Fischer chair. In 1991 he was appointed professor and appointed prorector for science at the HfV Dresden.

In 1992 he received a call to full professor at the Technical University of Dresden on the chair of traffic system theory and traffic flow theory . In addition, the Saxon State Minister for Science and Art, Hans Joachim Meyer , made him the founding dean of the incorporation of the “Friedrich List” faculty , initiated by Professor Günther Landgraf . In 1994 he was visiting professor at the Dutch Rijksuniversiteit Groningen .

In 1996 he took over the management of one of the four divisions Research & Technology of the Daimler-Benz Group as "Vice President for Research and Technology", later until 2006 Vice President Research Technology Management and Intellectual Property Management (RMI). From 2006 to 2010 he was President of the European Institute for Postgraduate Education at the TU Dresden e. V. (EIPOS).

Hertel was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Academic European Seminar of EIPOS until 2010. He was also a member of the board of trustees of “Dresden - City of Sciences” (until 2006) and a board member of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität e. V. "(DGQ). He is chairman of the Walter Masing Prize Board of Trustees of the DGQ. He has been a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Transport Sciences in Kiev since 1994. In 2008 he was appointed as a member of the accreditation commission for system accreditation of the accreditation agency ASIIN .

From February 2011 to 2016 he was full professor for innovation and quality management at the Palacký University in Olomouc in the Czech Republic.

Hertel has been a lecturer for “Quality, Innovation and Knowledge Management” at the University of Economics and Environment in Nürtingen since 2009 and for “Scientific Work” at the University of Fresenius in Idstein im Taunus since 2014 .

The Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts appointed him a full member of the natural science class in 2013.

Hertel is a board member of the Friends of Kants and Königsbergs eV , which wants to "transfer Kant's intellectual legacy to the here and now" in an understandable way.
