Volker Oppitz

Volker Oppitz (born December 6, 1931 in Haida , Czechoslovakia ) is a German financial mathematician , economist and sports official from Dynamo Dresden .

family

Volker Oppitz was the third child of Emil Oppitz (1898–1945), Mayor of Haida, and Anna Oppitz (1897–1961), manager of the Oppitz & Max chandelier in Haida. He has three children from his first marriage and his son Volker Oppitz junior from his second marriage .

Life

He completed an apprenticeship at the Kreutzen mill from 1946 to 1949 . Due to his family origins, he was arrested by the secret police of the USSR ( Gossudarstwennoje polititscheskoje uprawlenije , formerly Cheka , later KGB ) and spent the period from February 19, 1947 to July 7, 1947 in solitary confinement in the prison of the Political Headquarters of the USSR in Weimar (since 1991 "recognized political prisoner" (Az. II2-35001-S)).

From 1950 he first studied at the German Milling School Dippoldiswalde (DMD) and in 1952 did his graduate degree in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering at the engineering school for mechanical and electrical engineering Dresden (IHD). In 1956 he graduated as an engineering economist from the Technical University of Dresden , today's TU Dresden. He was scientific assistant for technical drawing with Werner Häußler (1952/53), for mathematics with Friedrich Adolf Willers (1953/54) and for philosophy with Hermann Ley (1954/55). In 1956 he entered the service of VEB Flugzeugwerft Dresden (today: Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) of the Airbus Group ) and was initially a technologist and later head of prototype planning. In 1961 he moved to VEB Elektromat Dresden (today: Zentrum Mikroelektronik Dresden AG ) as director of new technology . After teaching at the engineering school for mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, Dresden in 1965/66 he moved to the Institute for Rationalization and Organization of Electrical Engineering, Dresden, as head of operations management and data processing.

In 1970, with a thesis on capacitive industrial systems at the TU Dresden, he was awarded a Dr. rer. oec. (Magna cum laude) PhD . After receiving the facultas docendi in 1971, he taught at the TU Dresden as an honorary lecturer in business administration, and from 1973 as a university lecturer in business management. In 1981 he completed his habilitation through organizational and information networks in companies at the University of Rostock , Institute for Socialist Economic Management.

In 1987, Volker Oppitz was appointed associate professor for economic management at the Socialist Business Administration section of the TU Dresden. In 1990, he received a call to the Department of Management, Operations Research and Production Management at the Technical University of Dresden. From 1971 to 1990 he was a member of the council of the information processing section of the TUD. In 1996 he retired . From 1973 to 1990 Oppitz was under constant surveillance by the Ministry for State Security , because of the suspicion of “illegally leaving the GDR” because of publications in specialist journals of the FRG and the passing on of FRG magazines.

From 1991 to 1995 Oppitz taught at the Academy for Further Education and Knowledge Transfer, an institute affiliated with the TU Dresden . After his retirement he taught mathematics and management from 1996 to 2002 in the real estate management department at the European Institute for Postgraduate Education (EIPOS), also an affiliate of the university. From 2002 to 2005 he was the scientific director of the training course "Management in the sports and leisure industry (club manager)" and "Sports management" at EIPOS in conjunction with the German Sports Association (DSB). From 2002 to 2010 he taught at the Academic European Seminar (AES) of EIPOS / TU Dresden, since 2008 in various fields of study in mathematics, statistics and business management.

From 1991 to 1997 Oppitz was managing director of the Independent Business Economists and Engineers GmbH in Dresden and has been managing director of Text, Grafik & Software in Dresden since 1997 . He holds various supervisory mandates, including at the Sächsische Wohnungsgenossenschaft Dresden e. G. , Youth Work Education Dresden e. V. and the European Institute for Postgraduate Education at TU Dresden, where he was a member of the scientific advisory board from 2006 to 2010 and chairman of the council of elders between 2006 and 2011.

His hometown Novy Bor (Haida), Volker Oppitz lists in the section Významné osobnosti města (Remarkable Personalities of the City)

Scientific work

Oppitz is mainly concerned with the design of mathematical models and their practical use. He places particular emphasis on the synthesis of mathematics and business administration and their practical solution in the economic problem of corporate practice. Even the most difficult financial mathematical models follow, according to his scientific explanation, the purpose of maximizing profits and minimizing costs in everyday business.

Oppitz has published over 200 scientific publications, including over 32 books and brochures, patents and property rights.

In 2011, Volker Oppitz was accepted into the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts , natural science class. In the same year he received the EIPOS further education teaching award and in December was appointed chairman of the European Research and Working Group (EFA e.V.).

Oppitz growth classes

In his first publications, Oppitz determined the following growth classes, established their differential equations and described their closed solution (1):

1st class free economic growth

  • Potential Growth (2)
  • Other well-known functions: exponential and linear growth

2nd class Full economic growth

  • Exponentially Rich Growth (3)
  • Hyperbolic Saturated Growth (4)
  • Parabolic full growth (5)
  • Another well-known function: Törnquist growth

3rd class Eternal turning growth (6)

  • Exponential power function (7)
  • Other well-known function: Johnson growth, logistics growth

4th grade Final turning growth

  • Logistic exponential function (8)
  • Power Exponential Function (9)
  • Sine power function (10)
  • Sine time power function (11)

SG Dynamo Dresden

Oppitz has held various offices at SG Dynamo Dresden since 1971 , and since 2000 an honorary member of SG Dynamo Dresden. In addition to his academic work, Volker Oppitz, who lives in Dresden, was the Vice President of SG Dynamo Dresden between 2002 and 2005, and has been its Honorary Chairman since 2005. Oppitz combines the daily practice of a sports official with academic teaching in a postgraduate course on "Management in the Sports and Leisure Industry (Club Manager)" and "Sports Management" at the European Institute for Postgraduate Education (EIPOS) at TU Dresden.
