Günter Schmidt (born April 4, 1940 in Siegen ; † February 11, 2018 ) was a German doctor and author and publisher of medical textbooks at Thieme-Verlag .

Career

After studying medicine in Erlangen , Kiel and Göttingen, he received his doctorate on “transfusion hepatitis” with Werner Creutzfeldt in 1967 . After various stations, Schmidt took over the management of the internal department of the Bernhard Weiss Clinic in Kreuztal- Kredenbach in 1976 . In 1989 Schmidt qualified as a seminar leader of the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine . Since 1993 he has also worked as an author and editor of various specialist books on ultrasound medicine at Georg Thieme Verlag. The ultrasound course book and the sonographic differential diagnosis have been translated into numerous languages, including English, Russian, Greek and Turkish.

Schmidt died in 2018 after a serious illness.

One of his sons, the radio journalist Thilo Schmidt , said goodbye to his father and his home village in a one-hour program in the Deutschlandrundfahrt series on Deutschlandfunk Kultur .
