Influenced by his role model, the Swedish animal photographer Bengt Berg , Ziesler began to photograph animals at the age of 16 in Hellabrunn Zoo with his father's Voigtlander camera. He has been using Nikon camera equipment with a stable high tripod since the late 1960s . In 1974 Ziesler started his own business as a wildlife and nature photographer. His first photo expedition took him to Foula , a remote Shetland island . After traveling through Scandinavia, he graduated from 1976 to 1977 an expedition with the VW - Caravan of Colombia to Patagonia. In 1980 he began working with his future wife, the biologist Angelika Hofer . After several short trips, they went on long expeditions to Africa, South America, India, Southeast Asia and Australia. In 1984 the first joint photo book Safari - the East African diaries of a nature photographer was published. Several other books were published in the period that followed. In addition, Ziesler's photos can be found in numerous magazines, picture calendars and in the book series Handbook of the Birds of the World . In 1998, together with his wife, he designed the traveling exhibition The rainforest adventure begins at breakfast at home. In 2001 the photo exhibition Mahale - Encounters with Chimpanzees was created in cooperation with the Museum Mensch und Natur in Munich , and in 2007 in cooperation with the Global Nature Fund the traveling exhibition Pantanal - a paradise in danger .
