Association history

Berchtesgadener Land Tourist Association

The Berchtesgadener Land , surrounded by the mountain range of the Berchtesgaden Alps , still forms a culturally, historically and socio-culturally self-contained region in the southern part of the Berchtesgadener Land district named after it . Previously a small independent principality as the prince-provost of Berchtesgaden , the Berchtesgadener Land became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1810, and as a result of visits by the Bavarian royal family, an initial "tourism" began to develop in the region. This tourism should soon be organized by fiercely competing beautification, traffic or tourist associations - "with often grotesque side effects". Under pressure from the Nazi regime , a tourism association of the Berchtesgadener Landes eV , supported by all municipalities in the region, was founded for the first time in 1933 .

After the end of the Second World War , on November 28, 1949, a meeting of the municipal councils of all municipalities in the region decided to re-establish the Berchtesgadener Land Tourist Association with new statutes. At the constituent meeting with representatives of the municipalities of Berchtesgaden, Au , Maria Gern , Salzberg , Bischofswiesen, Königssee , Schönau , Marktschellenberg, Landschellenberg , Scheffau and Ramsau, the founding statute was published in March 1950 and the then District Administrator Karl Theodor Jacob was elected as the first association chairman. The managing directors and spa directors of the tourism association were later, from 1960, the tourism manager Günter Stopperich and in the 1970s the sports functionary Fedor Radmann .

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria that took effect between 1972 and 1978 , the eleven municipalities represented in this tourism association in the founding phase in the five municipalities of Markt Berchtesgaden, Bischofswiesen, Marktschellenberg, Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden and Schönau am Königssee were dissolved and retained the name until 2004 Tourist Association Berchtesgadener Land .

Zweckverband Tourismusregion Berchtesgaden-Königssee

In January 2005, the Zweckverband was one of the three founders of the “ Marketinggesellschaft Berchtesgadener Land Tourismus GmbH ”, to which the marketing and outdoor advertising of all tourist offers in the Berchtesgadener Land district, which has existed since 1972, was delegated for the first time. The marketing company is financed and controlled by the shareholders or representatives of the advertised municipalities and the three tourism associations within the Berchtesgadener Land district. As part of this re-establishment, the Berchtesgadener Land tourism association adopted new statutes and renamed itself the Berchtesgaden – Königssee tourism region association . The Zweckverband and the two other tourism associations in the district have since been mainly responsible for looking after guests and their local tourist facilities.
