history

In 1803 the prince provostie Berchtesgaden was dissolved and the Berchtesgadener Land lost its political independence. After three changes of rulership in quick succession, in 1810 its area and its localities were annexed to the Kingdom of Bavaria and the independent political communities of Schellenberg Markt , Ettenberg and Scheffau emerged from Schellenberg , the second capital of the Berchtesgadener Land, and the "Urgnotschaften" Ettenberg and Scheffau .

Previously affiliated to the communities of Scheffau and Ettenberg as Gnotships for only one year from 1817, in 1818 the Gnotships Götschen and Unterstein as well as Damage and Snowfields were incorporated into the newly created community Schellenberg Land .

In 1911 Schellenberg Land was renamed Landschellenberg and Schellenberg Markt in Marktschellenberg , and on March 1, 1911, the municipality of Ettenberg with its gnotships Vorder- and Hinterettenberg was incorporated into Landschellenberg. The community had a coat of arms in which the Schellenberger tower was included.

Even before the general regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Landschellenberg was merged with Marktschellenberg and Scheffau on October 1, 1969 to form the new municipality of Marktschellenberg .
