Götschen (Marktschellenberg)

Götschen is since 1969 a district of the market Marktschellenberg in Upper Bavarian district of Berchtesgaden .

In the year 700 Duke Theodo II gave the alpine pastures Gauzo (Götschen) and Ladusa (Larosbach) in the Grafschaft Grafengaden of the former Salzburggau to the first Bishop of Salzburg and “Apostle of Bavaria” Rupert .

Presumably from the end of the 14th century Götschen was a Gnotschaftsgebiet of Schellenberg , the second capital of the Berchtesgadener Land , which from 1380 formed the heartland of the Reich Prelature Berchtesgaden and the later independent, imperial provostry Berchtesgaden (1559-1803).
