Mehlweg is a part of the market Marktschellenberg in Upper Bavarian district of Berchtesgaden . The Barmsteine rise 800 meters to the east , the peaks of which are on the border with Austria (city of Hallein ).

history

Presumably as early as the end of the 14th century, in the Berchtesgadener Land , which from 1380 formed the heartland of the Reich Prelature Berchtesgaden and the later independent, imperial provincial prince Berchtesgaden (1559-1803), gnotships were established to subdivide the dominion .

In 1698 Mehlweg was only listed as one of 22 whole farms of the 2nd Gnotschaftsbezirks Neusieden of the Gnotschaft Scheffau. After three changes of rulership in quick succession, in 1810 the Berchtesgadener Land with its Gnotships was annexed to the Kingdom of Bavaria .

In the repertory of the Topographical Atlas from 1841, Mühlweg is listed as a hamlet of the Gnotschaft Neusieden, consisting of the six wastes :

  1. Gagellehen
  2. Loan
  3. Middle Poschachlehen
  4. Schmidbachlehen
  5. Tuber fief
  6. Guilder loan

The properties on the Barmstein (then Babenstein , also Barbenstein ) are listed there as a separate place belonging to the Gnotschaft Neusieden or as a group of three wastelands:

  1. Intermediate
  2. Upper
  3. Unterbarmsteinlehen

In 1867 Mehlweg is listed as a separate community of 50 inhabitants and thus formed a district of the then still independent community of Scheffau, along with the main town of the same name, Scheffau and the communities of Neusieden and Oberstein .

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria on October 1, 1969, the municipality of Scheffau merged with the main town of Marktschellenberg and the municipality of Landschellenberg to form the new market town of Marktschellenberg , in which Mehlweg has been a district since then.
