Günther von Pogrell (born June 5, 1879 in Nassadel , Wartenberg district , † July 8, 1944 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German officer , most recently a general of the cavalry .

Life

Pogrell came from the old Silesian noble family of the Lords of Pogrell . He joined the Prussian army as a flagjunker and was an officer in the Leib-Garde-Hussar Regiment . With this he fought in World War I a . a. on the western front. After the war he was accepted into the Reichswehr and worked as a commander and general staff officer in various units. So he led u. a. as commander of the 2nd Cavalry Division . From 1936 to 1938 he served in the Wehrmacht as inspector of the cavalry. It was reactivated in World War II. In mid-September 1939 he was appointed commander of the rear army area 587 (Korück 587). In mid-January 1940 he was appointed commander of Oberfeldkommandantur 670 (OFK 670) in Berlin. In early March 1940 he was then the commanding general of the Higher Command XXXII in Elverdinghe, 10 km northwest of Ypres . On March 31, 1942 he gave up his command, on May 31, 1942 he was finally retired from the Wehrmacht. He died in Bad Reichenhall in 1944 .

He was married to the Swedish-born Countess Ragnhild Ingegerd Siri von Trampe.
