Gützingen is a district of the Markt Bütthard in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .

Geographical location

Gützingen is located in the far north of the Bütthard municipality on the so-called Seebach. The area of Gaubüttelbrunn , a district of Kirchheim in Lower Franconia, begins further north . The east is occupied by the Giebelstadt district of Allersheim . To the southeast lies Höttingen , is located in the south Bütthard. In the west, Baden-Württemberg begins with the municipality of Wittighausen and the district of Oberwittighausen in the Main-Tauber district .

history

During the Middle Ages and the early modern period, Gützingen was part of the Würzburg monastery and assigned to the Bütthard office. In the 16th century, the branch church received a magnificent sacrament house. Gützingen was raised to a curate only in the 1980s , in the centuries before the parish of Allersheim was responsible for the village. In 1972 the municipality lost its independence and became part of the municipality of Bütthard.

Attractions

The center of the village is the Catholic Curate Church of St. Andreas and St. Jakobus. It was probably built in the 17th century and was renewed in 1792. A previous building was probably already in place in the 16th century. The hall building with retracted choir has an eastern choir tower with an onion dome. The church is surrounded by the former cemetery wall. The rectory was built nearby in the 1860s .

The former schoolhouse dates from the first half of the 19th century and is a plastered, single-storey half-hipped roof building. Two houses with typical pedestrian gateways also date from the 19th century. Many wayside shrines and small memorials in and around the village indicate popular piety in times gone by. An old linden tree on the Steig was not re-qualified by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation.
