history

The village of Tiefenthal is located in an area that has been inhabited at least temporarily since the Neolithic Age. Immediately to the east of today's village was the village of Insingen, which was abandoned in the late Middle Ages . Tiefenthal is probably the remains of this desert . In 1972 the place joined the municipality of Bütthard. In 1978 the main road that had previously run through the village was moved around Tiefenthal. The construction of the local sewer system did not begin until 1982.

Attractions

Unlike in many other places in the area, there is no church in Tiefenthal. However, a Catholic chapel was built for the faithful . It is a simple hall building with a slightly retracted choir and a roof turret with a pyramid roof from the 19th century. In addition, a house and a wayside shrine have been preserved.
