Gabi Troeger-Weiss

Gabi Troeger-Weiß (born May 29, 1958 in Hof (Saale) ) is a German university professor, spatial planner and author specializing in regional development , regional marketing and regional management .

Career

Troeger-Weiß attended elementary school in Bayreuth and passed her Abitur at Richard-Wagner-Gymnasium in 1977. From 1977 to 1982 she studied geography and spatial planning as well as economics and business administration (especially marketing) and public law at the Universities of Bayreuth , St. Gallen and Zurich . Her studies in Zurich and St. Gallen received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

From 1983 until her doctorate in 1987 she was a full-time research assistant at the Chair of Economic Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Bayreuth. For her dissertation, she was awarded the City of Bayreuth Prize for Outstanding Scientific Achievements. In addition, he was appointed to the Chair of Economic Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Bayreuth as an academic advisor.

In 1990 she joined the Bavarian State Ministry for State Development and Environmental Issues in Munich as a member of the government. In 1994 she was appointed senior councilor. In the same year she took over the management of the Euregio Egrensis , Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bayern e. V. in Marktredwitz. In addition, from 1996 she took on the deputy head of the department for the implementation of regional development concepts and sub-area reports as well as regional management in the Bavarian State Ministry for Regional Development and Environmental Issues (headquarters in Kulmbach ). From 1998 she also took over the management of the Regional Forum Future Upper Franconia for the sustainable regional and municipal development of Upper Franconia and as a platform for regional and project management.

In 1998 she completed her habilitation at the University of Augsburg in the subject of social and economic geography with the subject of regional management - a new instrument for state and regional planning, publications on spatial planning and regional planning . Since then she has also worked there as a private lecturer.

Since 2000 she has been a professor at the Department of Spatial and Regional Development at the Technical University (TU) Kaiserslautern , where she was dean from 2005 to 2011. Since 2003 she has been a member of the women's committee at the TU.

From 2002 to 2005 she was the managing director of the alumni association specializing in spatial and environmental planning. In the following years she took on several guest professorships, including a. at the University of Klagenfurt and the University of Namibia in Windhoek .

Since 2007 she has been the spokesperson for the regional and city focus as part of the research initiative of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . In 2011 she was appointed by Federal Building Minister Peter Ramsauer as a member of the Advisory Board for Spatial Development, where she is part of the extended board.

Private

Troeger-Weiß is widowed and has a son from this relationship.
