Gabriel Bacquier
Gabriel Bacquier (born May 17, 1924 in Béziers , Département Hérault ; † May 13, 2020 in Lestre ) was a French opera singer with a baritone voice .
Life
Bacquier has interpreted parts of his field by numerous composers from different epochs. These include works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Jacques Offenbach , Georges Bizet , Jules Massenet and Maurice Thiriet .
Bacquier has made regular guest appearances at the largest opera houses, including the Vienna State Opera , La Scala in Milan , the Royal Opera House and the Metropolitan Opera .
As one of the most renowned baritones of the 20th century, Bacquier became an officer of the Ordre national du Mérite and Commandeur des Ordre des Arts et des Lettres as well as Chevalier of the Legion of Honor .
