Gadschimurad Raschidow (born October 30, 1995 in Gubden, Karabudachensky District, Dagestan ) is a Russian wrestler . He was European champion in 2016 and 2018 as well as vice world champion in 2017 and 2018 and free style world champion in the weight class up to 61 kg or 65 kg body weight in 2019

Career

Gadzhimurad Rashidov began wrestling in his native city at the age of six. His first coach was his father Gasichan Raschidow. After the first major successes at regional level, he moved to the wrestling club "Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow" Kaspiisk . Other coaches who formed him since 2006 were Sachrussin Aigubow and Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow . He only wrestles in free style.

In 2010 he became Russian junior champion (Cadets) in the weight class up to 42 kg body weight. In the same year he was also the junior European champion in the same weight class.

In 2011 he continued his successes on the international wrestling mat in the youth field. He became Junior World Champion in Szombathely in the age group "Cadets" in the weight class up to 50 kg. In the final, he defeated Hassan Yazdanichariati from Iran, who six years later was to become Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro in the weight class up to 74 kg. 2012 repeated Gadschimurad Raschidow the title win at the Junior World Championships in Baku in the weight class up to 54 kg.

At the junior world championships in the "Juniors" age group, he could not win a world title. In 2014 he won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 60 kg at the World Championships in Zagreb. He won the same medal at the 2015 World Junior Championships in Salvador da Bahia.

In the senior category, Gadschimurad Raschidow took 3rd place at the 2015 Russian championship in the weight category up to 61 kg, behind Alexander Bogomojew and Jamal Otarsultanov . This was an important step for him on the way to the Russian national wrestling team for seniors in the weight class up to 57 kg, which, in contrast to the weight class up to 61 kg, was Olympic in Rio de Janeiro. The next important step was the 3rd place at the renowned "Iwan-Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk 2016 in the weight class up to 57 kg behind Alexander Bogomojew and Rustam Ampar. He was then used at the European Championships this year in Riga in this weight class and was there with victories over Yuri Holub, Israel, Levan Wartanow, Spain, Georgi Wangelow, Bulgaria, Asadulla Lachinau, Belarus and Andre Yazenko, Ukraine European champion.

At the Olympic wrestling tournament in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 he was not used. Gadschimurad Raschidow was at the start of the 2016 Russian championship in the weight class up to 57 kg and in his first two fights he won over Asamat Tuskajew and Nikolai Oschlopkow. After that, however, he was taken out of the competition by his responsible regional trainer because he did not agree with the decisions of the jury. For Gadschimurad Raschidow, however, the way to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro was blocked. At the 2016 World Championships in the non-Olympic weight class up to 61 kg in Budapest, the Russian champion Akhmed Tschakajew was used in this weight class .

The career of Gadschimurad Raschidow continued successfully. At the "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk in 2017, he finished second in the weight class up to 61 kg behind Akhmed Tschakajew. In March 2017 he became U23 European champion in the same weight class in Szombathely. In the final, he defeated Sedat Özdemir from Turkey. Points hit and Cengizhan Erdogan from Turkey. In the final he had to beat Haji Aliyev from Azerbaijan and became vice world champion.

In January 2018 Gadschimurad Raschidow won the "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk in the weight class up to 61 kg. In ai 2018 he competed in the European Championship in Kaspiisk and was there for the second time European champion with victories over Vladimir Burukov, Ukraine, Nurgun Scriabin, Belarus, Recep Topal, Turkey and Beka Lomtadze from Georgia. At the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, he started in the same weight class and defeated Tuvshintulga Tumenbileg from Mongolia, Sonta Tanaji Gongane, India and Beka Lomtadze, but lost in the final somewhat surprisingly to the already 35-year-old Yowlys Bonne Rodriguez from Cuba and was thereby again "only" vice world champion.

At the "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk, which took place in January 2019, he started in the weight class up to 65 kg for the first time. He came in 3rd place behind Akhmed Tschakajew and Nakhin Kuular.
