Achmed Osmanowitsch Tschakajew ( Russian Ахмед Османович Чакаев ; born March 21, 1987 in Chassavyurt , Dagestan) is a Russian wrestler of Chechen origin.

Career

Achmed Tschakajew started wrestling in his Chechen homeland in 2002 when he was 15 years old. He belonged or belongs to the "Shamil Umakhanov" wrestling club and the Achmat Mahanova School club . He was or is trained by TM Gusseinow, MA Gusseinow and Jaa Umarow. He only wrestles in free style. At a height of 1.69 meters, it weighs around 68 kg.

The fact that he started wrestling very late at the age of 15 is due to the fact that he has not seen any appearances in international championships in the youth field (Cadets and Juniors). From 2009 he started in many important international tournaments and usually did very well. At first he did not win at the two events of the Russian Wrestling Association, which are decisive for the filling of the international championships, the "Ivan-Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk and the Russian championships.

In 2014 and 2015 he took 3rd place in the Russian championship in the weight class up to 65 kg. In 2018 he was the first Russian champion in the same weight class ahead of Bechan Goigerejew. At the "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk in 2017, he won the first time in the weight class up to 61 kg. He relegated his Russian compatriots Gadschimurad Raschidow and Viktor Rassadin and the 2016 Olympic runner-up Rei Higuchi from Japan to their places.

In April 2015, Achmed Tschakajew represented the Russian colors in the weight class up to 65 kg at the Freestyle World Cup in Los Angeles together with Saurbek Sidakov . He came there only one use and lost against Brent Metcalf from the United States on points. In December 2016 he came to his first start in an international championship. He was used at the World Championships in the non-Olympic weight classes in Budapest in the weight class up to 61 kg. In Budapest he won over Dimitar Ljubomir Ivanov, Bulgaria, but lost in the quarterfinals in a tough fight against Logan Stieber from the United States with 11:13 techn. Points. Since Stieber reached the final, he was able to continue wrestling in the consolation round and secured a bronze medal there with victories over Wasyl Shuptar, Ukraine and Behnam Ehsanpoor from Iran.

In May 2017 he started at the European Championships in Novi Sad. In the weight class up to 61 kg he defeated Manuel Wolfer from Germany, Abdi Zurnaci, Turkey and Wolodja Frangulijan from Armenia. In the final battle he was defeated by the Georgian Olympic champion of 2016 Vladimir Khinchegashvili on points and became vice-European champion.

In October 2018, Achmed Tschakajew started for the second time in a world championship. In Budapest he competed in the weight class up to 65 kg. He won there over Logan Stieber, Siroddidin Chasanow, Uzbekistan and Vladimir Khinchegashvili. In the semifinals he lost to the Japanese newcomer Takuto Otoguro , but still secured a bronze medal with a victory over George Bucur from Romania.

At the "Iwan-Yarigin" Grand Pric 2019 in Krasnoyarsk, Akhmed Chakayev won in the weight class up to 65 kg ahead of Nakhin Kuular, Gadschimurad Raschidow, both Russia and Batmagnai Batchuluun, Mongolia, creating good conditions for a successful continuation of his career.
