Logan Stieber (born January 24, 1991 in Monroeville (Ohio) ) is an American wrestler . In 2016 he became world champion in free style in the weight class up to 61 kg body weight.

Career

Logan Stieber began wrestling as a teenager in 2000 at Monroeville High School . He concentrated on the free style. During his high school years, he won the Ohio High School Championship five times. He then studied at Ohio State University and was a very successful wrestler there too. Between 2012 and 2015, he won the American Student Championship (NCAA Championships) four times in a row.

In 2008 Logan Stieber became the American Junior Champion. He passed his first major test on the international wrestling mat in 2011 when he won 2nd place at the Junior World Championships in Bucharest in the weight class up to 60 kg behind the eventual Olympic champion Toğrul Əsgərov , who was revealed to be a doping offender in 2017.

In 2012 Logan Stieber, who starts for the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club in Columbus (Ohio) , narrowly failed in the US Olympic qualification (Trials). He lost the decisive duel against Coleman Scott . He is trained by Mike Zadick .

In the following years he was always able to place himself in the front of the field at the US championships, but only managed to qualify for an international championship again in 2016, namely the world championship for the non-Olympic weight classes in Budapest . There he showed himself in excellent form and with victories over Wassylyj Schuptar , Ukraine , Ahmet Tschakajew , Russia , Behnam Ehsanpoor , Iran and Beka Lomtadze , Georgia became world champion in the weight class up to 61 kg body weight.

At the Pan American Championship 2017, which took place in Lauro de Freitas / Brazil in June of this year, he finished 3rd in the same weight class, but suffered a narrow 12:13 point defeat against Davian Quintana Jaime, Cuba , in the semifinals .
