Career
Coleman Scott grew up in Waynesburg in the extreme southwest of Pennsylvania and attended Central High School there . There he started wrestling in 1992. As usual in high schools, he devoted himself to free style. He later attended Oklahoma State University . He now lives in Stillwater and is a member of the Gator Wrestling Club . But he's also wrestled for the Sunkist Kids in Phoenix , Arizona . He was or is trained by two formerly famous wrestlers, Zeke Jones and John Smith . During his high school years, he was a multiple Masters from Pennsylvania. At a size of 1.68 meters he wrestles in featherweight, the weight class up to 60 kg body weight.
In 2006 he was American junior featherweight champion and was used in the same year at the Junior World Championships in Guatemala City . He was injured there in his first fight against Jack Bond from Canada , could not continue the competition and therefore only ended up in 24th place. In 2008 he won the NCAA Championships, the championships of the United States University Sports Association. Between 2008 and 2011 he also competed regularly in the US championships and the eliminations (trials) for the world championships. In these competitions he always ended up in the foreground, but couldn't win any of them. His main competitors were always the same: Mike Zadick , Reece Humphrey and Shawn Bunch . That is why he only played one time at an international championship during these years. That was at the Pan American Championships 2010 in Monterrey ( Mexico ). There he finished third behind Alejandro Valdés ( Cuba ) and James Mancini (Canada).
In April 2012 he started for the United States at the World Cup in Baku , a team competition. He won there in all five fights in which he was used, as well as in the individual ranking of Kenichi Yumoto from Japan and Hajji Aliyev from Azerbaijan. He also achieved his final breakthrough on a national level, winning the US Olympic Games in Times Square in New York . He defeated Reece Humphrey and Shawn Bunch twice in three fights each.
At the Olympic Games in London he won featherweight over Lee Seung-chul ( South Korea ) and Malchaz Zarkua ( Georgia ), then lost to Toğrul Əsgərov from Azerbaijan and secured an Olympic bronze medal with a victory over Kenichi Yumoto.
