Gaetano Arfé (born November 12, 1925 in Somma Vesuviana ( NA ), † September 13, 2007 in Naples ) was an Italian politician , journalist and historian .

Life

Arfé joined a partisan group of the organization Giustizia e Libertà in 1944 in the Resistancea and joined the Partito Socialista Italiano (PSI) in 1945 . From 1966 he was editor of the PSI daily Avanti! .

From 1957 to 1982 he was a member of the Central Committee of PSI and from 1979 to 1984 he was a member of the ESP parliamentary group for PSI in the European Parliament . There he initiated two resolutions in particular to protect minority languages ​​(Resolutions Arfé I and Arfé II ).

After leaving PSI, he was elected to the Senate as an independent on the PCI list in 1987 .
