Somma Vesuviana is a municipality with 34,902 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Naples , Campania region , Italy . The municipality is part of the Vesuvius National Park ( Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio ).

The municipality was already settled pre-Roman, probably by the Samnites , Opikern or Oscar .
