The Camorra in Marigliano
According to a study from October 2000, which was commissioned by the Italian parliament, the place is largely in the hands of the Mafia organization Camorra . Organized crime is mainly responsible for the illegal dumping of household and industrial waste in the Marigliano area. Another study in 2004 found that deaths from cancer in this area were well above the European average, due to illegal waste dumping.
