Gajdy (German Goyden ) is a village in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in northeastern Poland . The place belongs to Gmina Zalewo in Powiat Iławski .
geography
Gajdy is located in the moraine landscape of the Oberland , about four kilometers west of Zalewo. Droga wojewódzka 519 runs through the village . The district borders in the south on a very extensive forest area (the former state forest Alt Christburg ). The now nameless brook that drains the northern part of the district was called Kopernikusgraben until 1945 .
Gajdzkie Góry (German Goydener Berge ): An elevation ( ground moraine ) on the southern border of the district, the highest point of which is 143 meters above sea level.
history
Goyden was founded by the Teutonic Order as a Hakenzinsdorf .
In 1874, the Goyden rural community was incorporated into the Preussisch Mark district in the Mohrungen district. The boundaries of the municipality and the affiliation to this district remained unchanged until 1945.
After it was incorporated into the Polish state, Goyden was renamed Gogowo and in 1946 Gajdy. The place was incorporated into the newly formed Gmina Zalewo. Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt of this Gmina without any other associated villages.
