Galatas ( Greek Γαλατάς ( m. Sg. ), Milk merchant ') is a place on the east coast of the Peloponnese on the Saronic Gulf across from the islands of Poros and Kalavria in Greece . Galatas itself has 2195 inhabitants and is the capital and seat of the municipality of Trizinia-Methana ; together with three smaller settlements, each with a few dozen inhabitants, it also forms a district ( Dimotiki Kinotita Δημοτική Κοινότητα) of Trizinia-Methana.

Galatas is surrounded by lemon groves and has numerous shops and taverns. The small ferries and boats to the island of Poros leave from the harbor. To the north of the village are the domed tombs at Galatas .

Previously there sold the goat herders milk and cheese. Their herds grazed in the area and on the ADERES - / Tembeleni -Bergzug.

From Galatas you have a good view of the island of Poros, which is only separated from the mainland by a narrow strait. In ancient times there was a swamp between Galatas and Poros .
