Trizina ( Greek Τροιζήνα ( f. Sg. ), Also Trizin ) was until 2010 a municipality named after the ancient Troizen polis , which belonged to the prefecture of Piraeus .

It was merged with Methana to form the municipality of Trizinia-Methana through the 2010 administrative reform .

structure

Trizina was originally called Damalas (Δαμαλάς) and was recognized under this name in 1912 as a rural community (kinotita) . In 1929 the name was changed to the ancient name Trizin (Τροιζήν). location

Geographically, the municipality is in the Peloponnese and is part of the Argolis landscape . Administratively, however, it belongs to the Islands regional district of the Attica region . This takes into account the economic and transport connections of the seaside community.

In the northwest the municipality borders on Epidavros , in the north on the Saronic Gulf and the Methana peninsula , in the east on the mainland area of the municipality Poros in the south on the municipality Ermionida .

traffic

Road connections exist to the Argolis and the Isthmus of Corinth . While these land routes make the municipality seem quite remote, the ship connection from Poros , which is immediately adjacent to the municipality of Galatas and is only separated from it by a 300 m wide canal, provides a regular and fast connection to Piraeus .
