The Galdhøpiggen in the Jotunheimen Mountains is with 2469 moh. the highest mountain in Norway and all of Scandinavia . It is located in the Lom commune of the province ( Fylke ) Innlandet .

In the meantime, however, the summit glacier has melted to such an extent that the Glittertind has lost its first place.

A few meters below the summit is the Volehytta refuge, which is managed in good weather .

Climbs
There are two ways to climb.
- The easiest is from the Juvasshütte ( 1841 moh. ), Located on Lake Juvat . The hut can be reached on a toll road that branches off by the village of Bøverdal . From the hut it is a four-hour climb over the Styggebreen glacier to the north ridge to the summit. Guided tours are offered regularly for this purpose.
- The slightly further one starts from Spiterstulen ( 1104 moh. ) In the Visatal , accessible via a toll road that branches off at Røysheim . From here it is also a four-hour ascent via a marked path that leads over the two secondary peaks and over the Pigg Glacier (Piggbreen) to the summit.
At the Juvasshütte there is also a glacier with alpine skiing in summer. This ski facility is called "Galdhøpiggen".
