The Gampleskogel is a 3399, according to the Alpine Association map, 3408 meter high mountain in the north-south running Ramolkamm of the Ötztal Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol . To the east, the mountain sends a pronounced ridge, which is partly in danger of breaking off due to the melting glaciers . The summit consists of three almost equally high points. In the middle lies Signal Peak , east of the rod summit and in the West Eiskalotte . Nothing is known in the literature about a first ascent.
Location and surroundings
The Gampleskogel is surrounded by glaciers in the north, south and west. In the north lies the Steiniglehnferner , which stretches up to the summit points, in the southwest the small Gamplesferner and in the northwest the Glaseirferner . Neighboring mountains are the 3229 meter high Zirmeggenkogel in the northeast and the Manigenbachkogel with 3314 meters in the south . To the northwest, the area drops into the Venter Valley , to the east into the Gurgler Valley . The closest major settlements are in the east of Obergurgl , which is about four kilometers as the crow flies , and Vent , just under five kilometers to the west.
Tourist development
The Gampleskogel can be hiked in around five hours from Obergurgl. The difficulty of the route over moraine rubble is UIAA I in places up to the ice cap , the transition to the signal summit requires climbing skills of UIAA II.
