The Garather Mühlenbach is a creek about 10 kilometers long. It touches the North Rhine-Westphalian cities of Solingen , Hilden and Düsseldorf .
The source of the Garather Mühlenbach lies between Solingen-Ohligs and Hilden. It is also called Kalversterzer Bach on its upper course in the Solingen area and flows there 20 meters below a high-voltage line in a pipe. At Schloss Garath opens Galkhauser Bach in the Garather Mühlebach. Below this confluence, around the time it reaches the floodplain of the Rhine at Hellerhof , it is then referred to as the Urdenbacher Altrhein . Another tributary in the Garath Schlosspark in Düsseldorf-Garath is the Rietrather Bach , which rises in Solingen, flows into it from Langenfeld and used to drive the Riethrath mill . In addition, the Horster Flutgraben, which is fed by the Itter , flows into the Garather Mühlenbach. The discharge of the water from the Itter is controversial because of the poor quality due to the pollution with organic and chemical substances.
