life and career
Hunt was a nephew of the English theater and film actress Martita Hunt. His father died as a soldier in World War II when Hunt was only two years old. He grew up in Battersea , south London, with his mother Doris and his stepfather. At the age of 15 he hired the merchant marine to satisfy his wanderlust. After six years he no longer liked it there and ended up in a military prison in New Zealand for three months for being removed from the ship. In his next activities he worked as a road worker and as a traveling salesman.
Hunt won an award for acting education at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Then he was hired by the Royal Shakespeare Company . With his role as Mike Gambit in seasons 7 and 8 of the British television series With Umbrella, Charm and Bowler Hat , he gained popularity alongside fellow actors Patrick Macnee and Joanna Lumley .
In the 1980s he became known in the UK with commercials for Nescafé . In the 1990s and 2000s, Hunt made a living mainly from smaller television roles. In 2002 he collapsed due to a heart attack during a performance at the Pier Theater in Bournemouth and initially received applause from the audience.
In 2004 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that only his family and close friends knew about. Hunt left behind his third wife, Amanda, and three sons.
