The Garryales are an order within the flowering plants (Magnoliopsida).

description

They are woody plants: shrubs or trees . They are dioecious separate sexes ( diocesan ). The small flowers are four-fold. Two carpels have become an ovary grown.

distribution

They have a disjoint area : on the one hand, from the western USA to Central America and into the Caribbean ; on the other hand in the Asian region from Sikkim to China to Japan .

Systematics

The Garryales are the most basal group within the Euasterids I , i.e. the sister group of all other Euasterids I. It comprises only two families :
