present

In 2005, public transport in Bangkok is much more popular than in the past. Bangkok Metropolis then decides to expand its subway network and plans above all to make the surrounding suburbs and towns accessible with the subway network. But when a tunnel is being built at a depth of 80 m, a disaster occurs when the construction team unexpectedly comes across the remains of a mystical creature that has remained undisturbed underground for thousands of years.

Meanwhile, the attractive archaeologist Leena, daughter Dr. Jeanviers asked the Thai government for a permit for archaeological digs with the aim of manifesting the theory of their now deceased father. Her desire to search for the remains of a mysterious species of bird people is rejected because of her ethnic origin - Leena is only half-Thai. The spurned leading actress is deeply disappointed.
Two months later, she and her American assistant Tim - despite the prevailing latent racism - asked to provide technical support to the Thai government's crisis team. In a subway shaft guarded by the Thai military , the astonished Leena is presented with a mysterious fossil . The archaeologist is immediately fascinated because she thinks she has the proof of the evolution of pterosaurs in her hands. Shortly afterwards, the scientists watch as the military completely ruthlessly and forcibly reveals the entrance to a cave. Inside, those present discover a huge, bird-like carcass next to petrified trees. There is a disagreement between the archaeologists and the special command, and the military takes over. Leena and Tim are arrested and briefly detained in a disused room.

While the soldiers make final preparations to eliminate the monster, which is in a strange rigidity, Garuda is rudely awakened by a burst of energy. In the extensive tunnel system, the airworthy monster opens up an almost silent and deadly hunt. Units of a special command led by Tan Toschai defend themselves against the "divine" monster with great losses. But efforts by the military to prevent Garuda from escaping fail. Commander Toschai forms a community of convenience with the two civilians, Leena and Tim, and flees to the surface. Garuda follows them because Leena's lucky charm, a petrified claw, arouses desires in him. Bangkok is now in fear and terror. In the end, Leena - Tim was killed at different times - lures the monster with her fossil onto the roof of a skyscraper . There is a showdown. Tan seriously injures Garuda amid intense fighting; the being is henceforth incapable of flight. With a trick, Leena and Tan manage to make Garuda plunge into the depths.
