Garuda ( Nepali गरुडा ) is a city (municipality) in the district of Rautahat in the central Terai of Nepal .
Garuda is west of the Bagmati River . Chandrapur is 20 km further north, Gaur approx. 20 km south.
The city of Garuda was created in 2014 from the merger of the Village Development Committees Basbiti Jingadiya , Garuda Bairiya , Gedahiguthi , Jayanagar , Mahamadpur , Malahi and Pothiyahi . The urban area covers 30.3 km².
Residents
At the 2011 census, the VDCs from which the city of Garuda emerged had 39,637 inhabitants (20,449 of them male) in 5798 households.
