Gary Burden
Gary Burden (born May 23, 1933 in Cleveland , Ohio - † March 7, 2018 in Los Angeles ) was an American graphic artist who designed numerous record sleeves for well-known rock musicians.
Life
His parents were Lowell and Agatha Burden. He grew up mostly in South Florida . He joined the Marine Corps at the age of 16. He then studied architectural design at the University of California at Berkeley .
He came to the graphic design of LP sleeves in the late 1960s through Cass Elliot from the band The Mamas and the Papas . As a result, he designed numerous LPs, mostly working with the photographer and musician Henry Diltz . The covers are one of his most famous works
